AMD Publication/Research Competition

Every year the AMD recognizes the accomplishments of its members in the areas of research and contribution to medical literature.  Currently, there are two categories – Resident and Staff/Fellow.  In 2023, we will be adding a THIRD category for non-active duty AMD members (Staff/Fellow level).

General information for submission:

– Articles published 1 Jan – 31 Dec 2022 (for the 2023 Meeting)

– Submit copies of eligible articles in PDF format to militaryderm@gmail.com

– Deadline is February 1st 2023

– Three categories: Staff/fellow (active-duty), Staff/fellow (NOT active-duty), and Resident

– 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for each category (cash prizes and AMD coin) 

– 1st place – 150.00, 2nd Place – 100.00, 3rd Place – 50.00 – each gets an AMD coin!

– Grading of the submissions will be completed by the current Residency and Fellowship Program Directors (or Assistant PD’s)

– Winners will be announced at the meeting on March 19th 2023 in New Orleans, LA

General Criteria:

  1. Submitters need not be present at the AMD meeting to win.
  2. A paper can be submitted by more than one author, however if two or more eligible authors submit the same paper, the award will go to the submitting author of the highest order on the paper (i.e. first author has the highest priority, then second author, etc), such that the author who put the most work into the paper is rewarded.
  3. A single author can submit as many publications as are eligible.
  4. The award will only be given to the submitting author.

Resident Awards:

  1. Submissions for resident awards must be from the first or second author (i.e. the resident must be the first, second, or final author).
  2. The resident may be an incoming (already accepted) or current military Dermatology resident. The resident may be at one of the three military dermatology residencies or at a civilian-sponsored/deferred training location.

Staff/Fellow Awards (active-duty):

  1. Submissions for staff/fellow awards can be from any of the authors on a paper (does not have to be the first author).
